I first came to live in Swineshead in 1956 as a young bride. My children were born and brought up here and attended the local primary school. I soon became a part of village life doing meals-on-wheels etc and entering into village life generally.
In the late1980s when researching my family history,
I became interested in the history of the village and decided to write a book about it. A History of Swineshead was published in 1996 and was followed by my second book, Swineshead Remembers, in 1999. Some years later a friend asked me why I had not mentioned Robert Delaney in my book. Delaney was a notorious burglar who once lived in the village. The result was Delaney the Catburglar, published in 2006.
Due to my continued interest in Swineshead I am generally considered to be the local historian.
I occasionally write articles for our village magazine and I help people with their family history research.
I am also currently working on a book about the boys on our war memorial which is provisionally entitled Swineshead’s War Heroes.

Pam with her most popular book to date.
A History Of Swineshead
This book covers Swineshead’s history from the Domesday Book to the millennium. It includes the village economy, education, the workhouse and social life in the village, as well as the Abbey and the Church.
Swineshead Remembers
This book contains the memories of life in the village in the twentieth century, in the words of some of the local people that I interviewed for this book.
Delaney The Cat Burglar
This book covers the life and times of Robert Delaney, a notorious criminal who once lived in Swineshead. On his release from his first term in gaol Delaney returned to the village for the sole purpose of robbing William Gilding. He was caught within twenty four hours and people mobbed the courthouse in Boston to get a glimpse of him.
